This page lists every version of LG Flash Tool available for free download, from the original 2013 release through the latest 2.0.2.5 build. All versions flash KDZ firmware on LG Android phones. Windows 7 through Windows 11 supported. Includes LGUP Tool for newer devices using TOT firmware.
System Requirements
Before downloading LG Flash Tool, make sure your setup meets these requirements to ensure a successful firmware flash:
- A Windows personal computer — Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, or 11 (32-bit or 64-bit).
- LG Flash Tool downloaded and extracted on the PC.
- Some versions require the MegaLock.dll file placed in the tool's installation directory before executing.
- USB debugging enabled on your LG device. Go to Settings > About Phone, tap Build Number seven times to unlock Developer Options, then enable USB Debugging.
- LG device booted into download mode. Power off the phone, then hold Power + Volume Up to start in download mode.
- Latest version of LG USB driver software installed on your PC.
- Visual C++ runtime library installed (required if the application does not launch correctly).
- At least 70% battery charge on your LG device.
Back up first: Flashing firmware — especially using CSE Flash mode — will erase all user data. Always back up your contacts, photos, and files before starting.

How to Install LG Flash Tool
Follow these steps to install LG Flash Tool on your Windows PC and perform a successful firmware flash:
- Download LG Flash Tool from the version table above and install it on your Windows PC as a regular application.
- If you are using LGUP, install the LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23 file first, then install LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3 on your computer.
- Enable USB debugging on your LG device via Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.
- Boot your LG device into download mode (power off, then hold Power + Volume Up).
- Connect the device to your PC using a compatible USB cable.
Flashing with LG Flash Tool
- Open LG Flash Tool. Load the downloaded KDZ firmware file by clicking "Select KDZ file".
- Choose your flash mode: Normal Flash replaces the stock firmware while preserving user data and files. CSE Flash wipes the entire device storage and restores only the core boot files — use this when Normal Flash fails or the device is seriously corrupted.
- Complete the form that appears, then click Continue to start the flash process.
Flashing with LGUP Tool
- Open LGUP Tool on your PC. Set the application to use Board DL mode.
- Load the KDZ or TOT firmware file in the file path field.
- Start the flash procedure with Board DL mode selected. Wait for completion without disconnecting.
Before You Flash — Important Notes
Take note of these important points before you begin any firmware flash operation. Skipping these precautions is the most common cause of failed flashes and bricked devices.
- Battery level: Maintain at least 70% battery charge throughout the flashing process. A dead battery mid-flash can brick your device.
- Back up your data: Flashing — especially CSE Flash — will erase all user data including photos, contacts, and installed apps. Back up everything before proceeding.
- Correct firmware: Download the KDZ or TOT firmware file that matches your exact device model number, variant, and carrier. Flashing the wrong firmware can cause permanent issues.
- USB 2.0 port: Use a USB 2.0 port rather than USB 3.0. Some LG devices have connection issues when flashed over USB 3.0.
- Run as Administrator: Always run LG Flash Tool and LGUP as Administrator on Windows 10 and 11 to avoid permission errors.
- MegaLock.dll: Some older versions of LG Flash Tool require the MegaLock.dll file to be placed in the tool's installation directory. If the tool shows an error about a missing DLL, add this file first.
- Disable antivirus temporarily: Some antivirus programs flag flash tools as potentially unwanted software. Temporarily disable your antivirus during installation if the tool is blocked.
