Before You Flash — Important Notes

Take note of these important points before you begin any firmware flash operation. Skipping these precautions is the most common cause of failed flashes and bricked devices.

• Battery level: Maintain at least 70% battery charge throughout the flashing process. A dead battery mid-flash can brick your device.
• Back up your data: Flashing — especially CSE Flash — will erase all user data including photos, contacts, and installed apps. Back up everything before proceeding.
• Correct firmware: Download the KDZ or TOT firmware file that matches your exact device model number, variant, and carrier. Flashing the wrong firmware can cause permanent issues.
• USB 2.0 port: Use a USB 2.0 port rather than USB 3.0. Some LG devices have connection issues when flashed over USB 3.0.
• Run as Administrator: Always run LG Flash Tool and LGUP as Administrator on Windows 10 and 11 to avoid permission errors.
